Recently read a few blogs, mainly due to my research on taiwan food as I'm gg to taiwan in Apr 14. Suddenly reminded of this blog that I have.

I should start again. It allows me take time to reflect and pen down thoughts and memories.

Bali day 1 - our villa!

Arrived in Bali yesterday with Meiming & Jingyi! Took a cab fr Denpasar airport to Semiyak. Cost us 70,000 rph which we felt is reasonable.

It felt like paradise when we entered our villa - Heliconia!!

Our favourite private pool! ;) woots! Have visited the pool yesterday and tonight. hehe. Really very shiok to have a pool in the villa!

This is where we have the breakfast which is served to us every morning. We get to choose from a menu of breakfast set. A good variety of around 15 sets for you to choose from :)

MM on the bench. I love this outdoor bench. I'm lying on it enjoying the wind and peaceful night while blogging now :) (Heliconia has free wifi. Yea!)

Ours is a two storey villa with one room above and one room below. I'm sharing the bed with Jingyi and it's so spacious! :)

Hand of Love

Yesterday Pastor Dennis said something in the sermon that made my think. He said that when he look back in his life he sees the hand of love in his life. How God has been guiding him and helping him even when he did not know God God was helping him.
I thought about myself. I seem to grumble too much about my life and is not actively looking for the hand of love which I'm very sure is in my life.

God forgive me for my greediness and discontentment. I repent Lord. I'm am blessed yet I dun see it and crave for more. Help me Lord to have a thankful heart.

Lobster Porridge

Bao, Coco, Donut and myself went for lobster porridge at Long Xia Zhou Shi Jia at Orchard Central. I actually bought this coupon on beeconomic.com for half price lobster porridge but when i went there we realised that there was this 1-for-1 promotion for lobster porridge. (-____-lll) Kind of sianz diao. meaning I didn't have to buy the coupon since there's this promotion mah. boo...

Anyways.. we had a good time trying this lobster porridge and their signature chicken dish with this veggie drink which has a strong sour plum taste.

The porridge when it arrived. Doesn't look very impressive but I assure you, its really delicious! It's kind of like the Teochew porridge kind. Not the cantonese porridge. The soup is sweet and before you know it you would have finished the rice inside. Hehe.

Pineapple tarts - 2011

This year I tried two different recipes for pineapple tarts. It's the first time i attempt to make pineapple tarts in the traditional flower shape way. I bought a roller and a mould from phoon huat for this purpose. The first recipe was from Little Teochew's website.

The second recipe is from my friend Pei xian. For those who loves butter and wants a crumbly, melts in the mouth kind of pineapple tart, this is the recipe to try.

Ingredients:

700g plain flour

500g butter

100g sugar

100g milk powder

3 egg yolks (beaten)

1 egg for glazing

Pre-rolled pineapple balls (I always use the ready made pineapple filling from redman, its slightly on the sweet side but I'll okay with it being sweet. haha.)

Steps:

1. Sift the flour

2. Using fingertips swiftly but gently rub the butter into the flour until it looks like fine bread crumbs. You may also use fork (as per the instructions in the 1st recipe) It basically requires you to scrape / flake the butter with your forks. You essentially want to coat the butter crumbs in flour. Using forks prevents the cold butter from melting since there is no contact with heat.

3. Add the beaten 3 egg yolks into the butter-flour mixture and gently coax all the crumbs to form one large dough ball.

4. Grab a little dough and wrap a pre-rolled pineapple ball with it. Continue to form enough tarts for your baking tray.

5. Bake at 160 degrees celsius for 15 minutes and glaze the pineapple tarts with the beaten egg and bake for another 5 minutes.

The bottom was burnt. But it's an improvement from the first time ba. :)

Yosh! It's a brand new year and a brand new day at work for the year!

Dear Lord, i pray that u will be with me as I strive to give my best in my work. Give me wisdom and the skills i need to do a good job in all the projects that I will handle this year. I pray that I'll be salt and light for u in this place that u have placed me in. I'm grateful to u for giving me this job and I pray that u will bless me in my days in this company. Holy Spirit, please be with me throughout and guide me. Thank you, in Jesus name. Amen!

Last CG of the year!

Had our last CG for 2010 at Marina Barrage today! My first time there and first time flying a kite!! It was super fun! I didn't manage to fly any high up in the sky but Jingwei and Yong Chao got theirs high high up! :D super cool that i was able to get a chance to tug the strings for one of the kites that flew high up :)

Why fly kite? cos we wanted to our goals/reso for 2011 to set flight! :)

Blessed 2010 Birthday

Had a series of birthday celebrations with different groups of frenz. Felt very blessed :) Thank you all!!!! Muacks!

1) Surprise from Lee Mei and Jestee. Right after gym and dinner haha. accompanied with KOI :) had a good time chatting with them and i really hope that by next year my wish for the 3 of us will come true! :)

2) on 22 Dec celebrated Cuifen and My birthday together with Lydia and Beatrix :)

Mini lunch trip

Needed to collect my staff pass at HQ hence i arranged for a lunch appt with CSS and Ms gek. Long time no see them. Very glad we are still in touch even though it has been 2 years since I left HFT. Ms gek is having her second BB! A girl :) she's due in Jan. Think her BB girl will be super cute :)
Btw, thanks Shusiang and ms gek for the treat!

The "Sale up to 50%" signage at Maximmo Dutti drew the three of us over after our lunch. Like the shoes but cost $155 at least. Too ex. Saw a very nice dress. Cost $200!! *bang head on wall*

Walked passed Garrett popcorn shop at citylink on the way back. Have been wanting to tried it for quite some time.


Tried all the flavours before I bought it. Theres almond caramel, macademia caramel, cashew caramel, caramel and cheesecorn. Finally selected caramel flavor. It's fluffy and has a nice sweet caramel taste. a very slight bitter aftertaste which I'm okay with.


But i felt i should have taken chicago mix which is caramel mix with cheesecorn, then can get both sweet and salty flavors in one bag :)

If you like popcorn, do give Garrett a try!! :D

Company party

Today I got more chatty with 3 of my colleagues. Guess they will soon realize that i'm not who I look. Hopefully in the good way and not the bad. Haha.

Started with lunch at toastbox where I got to know a bit more of the history of the ex-audit VP through them. On the train ride to Tanah Merah talked more at ease with them. We went around to the games booth, man the fit & fun booth and do manicure. Colleagues went for fengshui course. I only joined them after we closed our stall.


Some one very loyal to the company. Haha.

This was hand drawn by an artist on a piece of shrinking plastic. The plastic shrank when it was placed in the toaster oven. Heh. My mouth as nostrils so big! Haha. And this service is FOC! Yea! Popcorn, ice cream were served with no charge as well :)


See my pink nails? Did express manicure for only $8. It was done by the ITE students. Not bad :)

Comcare activity

Woke up on time today! Woohoo! (With a bit of help from dad.. hehe.) got myself ready for a day of packing goodie bags and distributing bags to the old folks living at lavender area.

Yanting seems happy :) the two guys behind are jinyu's colleagues. The one in white was my team leader, Teck Chai. Very fun guy. Hope we'll see them again soon!

There's a towel, a bag of approximately 1kg rice, 1 tin of Milo, cereal and maggie mee.
Our team was in charged of delivering 12 goodie bags to old folks staying in blk 7 & 8.

We started the delivery only at 3.15pm and completed by 4pm. A pity that we started so late, uf not we could have more time to talk to the old folks.

Tonite 190 took super long to arrived and there was traffic jam at orchard turn. Thank God i had a seat if not i need to stand more than 30mins on my 3.5 inch heels. :S cannot imagine (>.<)

boarded bus ard 10.30pm but it was 11.45pm when i reach BP. was walking h0me and was approaching the feeder bus bus stop. The feeder bus that goes to my house only come once every 30mins and I know that the last bus should be at 12am. Since it was 11.45pm already, i presumed the bus had already left. i did saw people at the bus stop but i thought they were more likely waiting for another bus with a higher frequency. Although i thought its useless but i found myself saying: "God, i know doesn't seem possible, but i wish i can take bus and reach home faster." I turned my head and woohoo! 922 was approaching!

Shining Moments - 4 Dec 2010, republic poly

Our sub-D organized a talentime and we 4 brave gals signed up!


Initially it's just Lee Mei and Cuifen singing. But ended up we added in the dance. Although we were last (hahaha!), we weren't upset. Cos we think that other teams really deserve the credits, they really trained hard. Ours was more ad-hoc :p
At least got chocolates as consolation :D

Appreciate that Jestee stayed in Sg for this performance and Lee Mei for being so sporty by joining this contest even though she has to fly off to China the next day. :)

Hope u girls enjoyed urself. At least when we look back 10 yrs later, we can proudly say 至少我们勇敢的尝试过! Haha!


Dabao did a gd job of playing the guitar for Hebing and Zhou Lin as well! You'll always be the most talented Bao I ever know. :)
